- Director of Bands at the Virginia Military Institute. VMI is a four-year,
state-supported college located in the Shenandoah Valley. The Regimental Band consists of
120 cadets who appear in an average of over 150 performances annually. These
performances include parades, concerts, ceremonies, and pep band support of over 200 NCAA
Division I sporting events since 1988. During my tenure the unit has increased in size and
caliber, and has traveled extensively in the United States and Europe. Units within the
Regimental Band include the VMI Pipes and Drums, est. 1996 (Bag Pipes). Concert band, est.
1990, brass ensemble, est. 1989, marching band, pep band, and "VMI Commanders"
jazz ensemble, as well as several small ensembles and quintets. Currently holds the rank
of Colonel corresponding to full Professor.

Music. Duties include studio instruction of trumpet and horn students, guest conducting of
Wind Ensemble, assistant direction of Symphony Orchestra, and teaching of theory and

presented by the Superintendent and the Board of Trustees of the VMI Foundation.
