VMI is a four-year, state-supported college located in the Shenandoah Valley. The
Regimental Band consists of 120 cadets who appear in an average of over 150 performances
annually. These performances include parades, concerts, ceremonies, and pep band
support of over 200 NCAA Division I sporting events since 1988. During my tenure the unit
has increased in size and caliber, and has traveled extensively in the United States and
Europe. Units within the Regimental Band include the VMI Pipes and Drums, est. 1996 (Bag
Pipes). Concert band, est. 1990, brass ensemble, est. 1989, marching band, pep band, and
"VMI Commanders" jazz ensemble, as well as several small ensembles and quintets.
Currently holds the rank of Colonel corresponding to full Professor.
1991-present Trumpet and Horn Instructor/Adjunct Faculty at
Washington and Lee University School of Music. Duties include studio instruction of
trumpet and horn students, guest conducting of Wind Ensemble, assistant direction of
Symphony Orchestra, and teaching of theory and aurals classes.
1991-present Guest conducting of Regional, District, and County
Bands at secondary and middle schools throughout southwestern Virginia and Pennsylvania.
1989-present Director, The Institute Brass Quintet, Lexington, VA.
1993-1994 Graduate Assistant Instructor of the "Cardinal
Brass Quintet," the undergraduate brass quintet at The Catholic University of
America.
